Damn weather scuppering my Clay plans. *Updated with Pics*

So I decided to dip a toe in the detailing pond today with a clay bar of my car after not being entirely happy with the 'feel' of it after a wash and wax.
Kit list was as follows.
Meguiars clay kit with...
Megs quik detailer for lube.
Megs wax (can't remember, just came with the kit)
Megs Scratch X2.0 for several light scratches on the boot lid
Autoglym Super resin polish.

I was all set and cracked on with the claying. Was pleasantly surprised with the rate of progress and I can honestly say I was amazed at the instant results after wiping the quick detailer off the area.

I'd systematically chosen to work each panel but leave the lower skirts and sills, bumpers etc till the end and just as I was starting on the front number the heavens opened. :( By the time I'd cleared the kit and driven the car into the garage, it was soaked.

I was left thinking, should I dry the car given that the chamois was still wet and a tad dirty from the first dry or let it dry naturally and expect rain spots tomorrow when I come back to it? I decided to dry it thinking that either way I may well have to re-clay it before doing the SPR in the morning. :headbang: :headbang:

We'll see. It took a good 2 hrs so really hoping it's not undone all my hard work but I'll report back with the after pics tomorrow.

Glad I've tried the clay bar though, it really does work magic!!

Claying makes a huge difference and makes the paintwork so smooth to touch.

I did mine over the Easter weekend, but it was basically clay one day, machine polish part of it the next day, then more the next day then finally seal with wax. Worth it in the end though.

So, after a few day's disappointing weather, I finally managed to get out there and finish the job this morning.

After a re-wash having used the car since claybaring and a re clay of the bonnet (Really chuffed at how much it removes...)6d22f718.jpg

I cracked on with the polishing, first a good coat of AG super resin.

followed by a coat of megs wax and seal (came with the clay kit)

and a final going over with the quick detailer resulting in the cleanest and most shiny car I've ever owned :) I didn't do much to the wheels on this occasion so just a basic wash before the weather turned!

Apologies for the amount of pics...went a bit snap happy! :camera:

Nice work, seeing a shiny car makes all that work worth while, however beware the detailing bug

+1 .... I need to stay away from threads like this, I get an itch that Mrs Bing will beat out of me with sarcasm and withering stares

Great job though - your car looks perfect

You've made a great job of that. I'm interested in the Meguiars scratch stuff you used as I also have some light scratches on the boot area. Did it work?

Yes and no. I reckon the combination of Scratch X and AG SRP and Megs wax has helped the overall look of the boot and made the scratches less noticeable to the untrained eye but I still notice them. That said I perhaps didn't give it as much work as I should have due to the impending showers due that morning and also I can feel the scratches under a fingernail so quite possible that I was fighting a losing battle. I'd be interested to hear of other's experiences with the stuff!

The trainee Mrs CJ is also concerned that this will become a regular occurrence. I've managed to convince her it won't but all I seemed to get was sarcasm and withering stares!

Yeah, I told Mrs Bing that my car would only need waxed 2 or 3 times a year... She now has me marked down as a lying, deceitful weirdo as I have waxed it at least 3 times in 6 weeks

Our women are our rocks though - they are very tolerant of our toys...

And Nick -
