Damn VW electrics!

Got an issue with our mk4 Golf.

Heavy rain last week the alarm goes off when getting in the car and didn't stop for a few minutes. Got the car home and the power windows/electric mirrors no longer operate from the switches in the car. They open and close from the key in the door, just not from inside.

Code ready showed O2 sensor error (alarm issue) which obviously got wet and threw up a code which I've now cleared, but I just can't seem to locate the issue of the windows or mirrors. Checked wIring in door and boot for breaks but all okay.

I'm stumped! Any ideas gratefully received!

Not a thing Steve. It's weirder as the puddle light on the door still works and as the windows drop and raise from the key/door they're defintely getting power.

Drivers Door control module i suspect..
Even though the puddle lights still operate and none of the doors of the car operate the windows?

Yep,

Have you looked in the boot between A pillar and door ? They can break wiring there..

I have. couple of splits but nothing that would short and I've repaired now too. Thanks for the advice on the switch unit.

The world of VW electrics gets stranger and stranger by the day. Now the central locking from the physical key opens all the doors upon entry (never has done before as the remote has never worked) but when you lock the car the alarm sounds about 5 minutes later for 30 secs before stopping. Indicator lights don't flash now either when locking the car.

Hopefully taking to an auto electrical specialist this week or next. Maybe she's telling me I need to upgrade.
