Damage to back of seats at top on M Sport seats

hi all,

i know this was covered in the old forum, but wasn't there a service bulletin about where the seat rubs against the bulkhead and damages the back of the seat ?

I remember someone saying u cud get it repaired once as it was a design fault it could go too far back.

If anyone has any info i'd be grateful, mine's in at the moment.

ta !

That would be interesting to find out, as I think I have the same issue, where there is a small graze the size of a 5 pence (from memory) on each seat on the top on the outer sides on the non leather part.

No one has any experience of getting this sorted in the past ? :?

I think they're gonna try and charge me, and I'm not *that* bothered..

I have to agree with you, and havent asked the dealer as I assumed they would charge.

To be honest I forget the marks are there, but it would be nice to fix at some point.

well.. they won't do it and i couldn't be arsed to argue too much.. unless i can find something specific about this being done for free, which i fear might have been only when these things were shiny and new, i cant see me doing anything more about it.. just can't wait to get her back now, 3 weeks without.... :driving:

Perhaps you could put a patch of another material between the seatback and the bulkhead to protect them?

I'm 90% certain that Matt (Z4M Phatic) on Z4um had his replaced IIRC, I'm not sure whether he still goes on zed-cars ( :ilz4f: ) but his username is/was Z4Mancipator it might be worth a look/PM.

:( maybe I got the username slightly wrong, don't think so though, maybe a problem with spacing or something though, it's not all one word?

I'll PM you about the rest :)

Can I ask why Wondermike?

Okay guys, just a quick word on this subject, please refrain from airing open grievances about other forums on this one. This "widespread occurence" has been aired elsewhere and we are trying to keep it civil and open to everyone, here, without upsetting anyone that may want to peruse our friendly forum. I know that what happened is a sore spot among many, but let's get on with our lives and make this forum the best

Thanks, Wondermike, for sending the info via PM 8)

Absolutely agree. I edited my original post, srhutch - would you mind editing out my original post from your quote too, cheers

No worries

O/T but on a similar subject - on my SLK I need to have the seat maybe 70% forward, I'm 6ft so to reach the pedals on the seat fully back you'd need to be about 7ft, yet on the Z4 I pretty much had the seat all the way back, then tilted slightly to avoid the rubbing problem. The Z4 cabin is pretty tight.
