Dacia Sandero Stepway

Still looking around for a practical runabout to replace the Z3 and being strangely drawn to this car :o

Top of the range is under 10K which gets you more space than a Fiesta, 0.9 turbo 90hp 3 cyl engine, sat nav, air con, parking sensors, dirt cheap to run and apparently voted the most reliable brand in Europe :?

Whilst its no Zed :D as a cheap new car its kinda appealing :? Perhaps driving one will take all the appeal away although its supposed to drive surprisingly well hmmmm. Like the rufty tufty looks

I guess you can get a better secondhand buy but the price for a new car with a warranty could be a no brainer?

Apparently Dacia have been overwhelmed with orders :o

Tim.

It's a pos.

Buy a used ntec qashqai 2011 dci.

Enjoy 1 year remaining warranty and enjoy mild depreciation.

Cheers for that, I've already looked at the Juke but it wasn't doing it for me, looks a bit like Nissan had an accident in the design dep't and mixed a number of ideas all up :) The qashqai is a contender but woefully bland :| The Dacia is a bit qwerky which appeals.

Tim.

Not sure I like that Tim - but I get where you're coming from.

And on the bright side, you'll do more miles in your remaining Z

Cash or PCP?

Either way I bet horrendous depreciation makes it a more expensive prospect than something, how do i put this............. good!

For a laugh check how many are for sale on auto trader, there must be a conspiracy therory somewhere if you look for private adverts.

Thing is they cost so little in the first place that depreciation isn't that bad, its not like paying 50K for a BMW and in 3 years being worth less that 20, thats depreciation :o

Would have to be pcp to keep monthlies low.

If the qq is bland, then you have not been in a Tekna version (which does cost quite a bit for a 2011 upwards car).

Its a great all rounder.

I cant really fault it in any way.

Yeah, If you compare it to a £50k car you will loose less money but what percentage of the value will both lose? Compare it to a £15k car that retains a higher %.

For example. When i had my Z4 I wanted a cheap run about so i went and spoke to Kia as I figured their cars were cheap with long warranties and the new models are pretty damn good (to look at, not to drive). When I got prices for a Rio it turned out that a Skoda Yeti, Ford Focus and Nissan QQ, which were all better equipped, bigger and nicer to drive, were all cheaper to own on PCP despite being 50% more expensive list. All down to the GFV.

Never go by the sticker price if you are financing.

without a doubt on paper it ticks a lot of boxes, but the car itself I'm not sure about

I like the idea of spacious, low depreciation motoring, but have you thought about an older X3? For £10k you could get a decent 3 litre diesel auto X3 with lots of toys, minimal depreciation, mid 30's MPG and decent pace.

I've got an old 3 litre petrol auto, you can get these for 6k or less with nav, heated seats, panoramic roof, etc etc. Worth a thought, much better prospect as a cheap second hand purchase than they were as expensive new \ nearly new cars.
