Custom ///M Steering Wheel Project

Talking of the MFSW buttons, I often wonder if there's a way to make the R/T and up/down buttons on the right useful - I never use them as apart from making the screen pop up, the seem to do nothing..

If pressing R/T could be used to 'select/enter' items within the Nav, whilst up/down could be used for navigation there might actually be a point to them being there!

Any ideas?

Wow - you want all my secrets - still can't imagine I need a new wheel for a good few years :)

Here you go then. How about an ///M tricolour wheel for £158
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-Z4-E85-E8...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb51100f7

I got an almost new one, and can't see that it was ever used, so check on condition and email as he'll no doubt do a deal. Supplied my MFSW buttones and trims too,

The trim I purchased fitted perfect with no fettling so pays to get the right bits and cost me less thna E100 for buttons and trims

Thanks for the tip off CJ I bought that wheel! I emailed and he said he only had the chrome trim / buttons so I just bought the wheel as I fancy the black ones, however, I rang Soper's yesterday and the said the trim is only available with the wheel as a complete kit.

Does anyone know if this is right? Or where I can get some?

Thanks

Cj
Your wheel looks good
Ive just bought one of these from the same guy. Planning to use my existing chromeline MF switches as well.
Q. The bottom trim; how esasy was it to fit? Seen a 'how to' on here (cant find it now despite searching endlessly) that shows some cutting involved with the bottom trim. Did you need to as it appears stock?
Thanks in advance

Russ - Thanks for the comments - I like it too

No fettling required. I purchased the correct trims to fit the wheel. I had to start from scratch as I'd sold my existing MFSW, buttons and trims as a unit to fund this project

Cheers CJ
My existing wheel has the chromeline trim but fitted to the thinner wheel. Can you fit these trims to the thicker wheel or do I need to buy new? If so do you have any parts numbers
Im sure I saw a how to a while back where someone fettled the thinner rim ones to fit.
The Black M trims where can these be sourced cheaply?
Cheers
Russ

Russ - I'm sure there are posts on here about fettling to fit. I can't advise as I purchased direct from the wheel supplier and they fit straight on. The wheel you've bough from him is likely to be sightly different to a genuine ///M wheel so it's a question of seeing what oyu've got and what need to be modded whn you have it all on the bench.
