Curved windscreen issue

Hi everyone, this may seem an odd question but can anyone tell me how far over the drivers side wiper should travel over the screen? Mine goes about 1cm beyond the curve in the glass on the right hand side of the windscreen. The previous owner had not replaced the wiper blade and consequently a patch of scratches the area of a 50p had developed on this curved area towards the top of the screen. If the wiper is misaligned is it easy to fix? I have replaced this blade but it always clicks loudly when it goes over the curved area on the screen and I'm sure this isnt right - although I have never owned a car with such a pronounced curve in the glass (I've tried several sets of wipers and none seem happy on the drivers side). Advice appreciated! JW.

Its really east to change the position of the wipers. I would guess that if the wiper is going too far at the top of its wipe then it will be stopping a bit high at the parked position.
Undo the nut on the end of the wiper arm and pull the arm off, make sure you mark the screen with a drywipe pen or something so you know where the wipers are currently parking.
The wiper arm fits onto a splined shaft and you should be able to refit it so the wiper is parked a couple of cm lower.
After this the wiper shouldn't reach the last cm or so of travel that has been causing you problems.

That's a big help - thanks. Next step will be to try and get rid of those scratches!
