Well my local track had an open day so I took the opportunity to take the Zed for a spin.
After a briefing and then quick scrute she was cleared for on track. First a couple of laps driven around by a local course expert to show lines, braking points, etc. I was surprised to say the least to see the speed of a 2.0TDi Golf int he hands of an expert simply through the perfect lines and maintainong momentum. He harried a v10 Toureg all around the circuit, backing off just to avoid passing...
Then it was me. The guy coached while encouraging and my first lap I felt I'd braked a little early in places and not aggressive enough on the rumble strips but was told my lap was quick and better than the previous run of an Mitsubishi Evo...
(OK so I’ve done plenty of circuit driving but been ruined by a decade of Jeeps and in a clean car on a new track ‘sensible’ was today’s word)
So as the tyres warmed and my course confidence grew I got pretty quick, DSC off and some tail moment to help around a crucial corner and I was well happy. Bonus is it was all for free...
Some photos, but very poor as just snapped by the family….
