Cupholders in E89

Sorry if this sounds like a daft question, does the E89 Z4 come with cup holders as standard or are they a option. Anyone have any good retrofit ideas? Just a pain putting drinks in the car, constantly drinking bottled juice. I have an E89 z4 with sat nav, phone prep etc so no centre console space.

I know exactly what you mean! This is a real bug bear of mine as well. I end up just sitting a bottle of water on the passenger seat. There really is nowhere else to put it.

Agreed. The one that comes with the comfort pack is just plain daft. - stuck onto the side of the centre console like a 6 series. Totally rubbish afterthought.

The obvious place would have been to have '5 series type' ones on the leading 'lower edge' of the dashboard (where it changes to coloured leather in my case) - there is a 20mm lip here which is ideal. Boo BMW!

Centre armrest is great for filling up with Mistrels though! :P - and the armrest keeps them out of view for 'sweet- theives'! :D

There's the two drinks holders in the centre armrest but they're a bit awkward. Otherwise I just use the parcel shelf/netting.

They are rather stupidly an optional extra, part of the storage pack if I recall

my old zds had pop out holders under the air vent on each side of the dash. they adapeted to different size cups and folded completely away. did get in the way a bit if you needed to get out of the car.

may need to look at something

I have 2 under the arm rest. They are not very deep and I worry if I have to brake sharply anything in them will fly out and hit the LCD panel/dash.

if they do it will cost 770+ vat + 2hrs fitting + vat to replace lol. so hope it never does.

The ones by the side of the gear lever are not offered in the UK. I loved it there on my 6's, and it's a shame they can't be added over here, the ones in the armrest are useless and it's a squeeze to get the drinks in....

Ouch! I'll bear that in mind. I have a little fold out thing at the bottom of my door that I tend to use for bottles. For the gym I have a water bottle that isn't sealed and so I have no choice but to use the cup holders. I hope I never get caught out :(
