Cup holders

A newbie (who has posted pictures) and keeps asking questions. But are cup holders fitted as standard to all cars. On both sides I can see where these should be fitted but I cannt get them to open. It could be that they are both jammed but I dont want to start forcing anything if it is only a blanking cover fitted on my 2005 2.5 SE.

My car only has one on the drivers side, which folds out, the passenger side has a cup diagram but does not open up.
 
No pic of a cup on either of mine so presumably holders not fitted. But not sure why you would need to specify these when buying new.
 
cup holders is an option, not all cars have them, i have them on the coupe but not the floppy top

Both sides should have cup holders if requested when car bought new, if the front panel has the little pic of a cup then it should be a cup holder when u press it in it then slides out, if not then its either broke or someone as just put the front panel in, easy to check just use a trim tool to see if it pops out like the non cup holder front panels do.

I made one for free using those magic buttons on the passenger seat. Simply adjust it to suit and it will hold a bottle between the seat back and bulkhead next to the centre console. I would never have anything that doesn't seal as it could fall out or spill over and make a nasty mess!
 
As above... no models had them standard - not even the M's.

Were part of the comfort pack or could be added on their own.

I have a drivers side cupholder but have also used this method for larger bottles of water
 
Cup holders as an optional extra just astounds me - to fit as standard would probably only cost a few quid. Manufacturers will shortly be quoting the engine as an optional extra!.

I have silver car with red leather seats. Those calipers and roof on your pic look really nice, did you do it yourself ie re-stain the roof
