CSL Seats?

Guys,

I've had a few sherries, so this might well be a completely ridiculous thought:

Would CSL seats fit the Zed? I think the standard seats are good but they're heavy and a little on the wide side to really hold you in plaace properly.

Has this been done before?

I thought the CSL seats were a custom version of the Recaro Sportster - but since having a look at the pictures I think I'm confusing the BMW Performance seats with the CSL seats. It's the BMW Performance seats which are the Recaro Sportster :headbang:

I still think (as a larger bodied driver) that the Recaro Pole Position ABE gives me more hip/shoulder support than any BMW seat since my e34 M5 - and is about the only modification I've had on my mind for the Z4 since I got it. Andy Sixspeeds seats are what I'd like...

You may need mounts/rails to fit the Z specifically as I don't believe the M3/CSL ones will fit.

Mine are Pole Positions. I'd say they're closer to the CSL seat than the Sportster. The CSLs dont recline IIRC (which the sportsters do), and the general shape of the PP is much closer to the CSLs.

I'm not so sure. I find my fixed Pole Positions perfectly comfortable, and have never felt the need to adjust the back position.... and it's not like you need access to get someone behind the seat! ;)

It's just me, I found the "sit up and beg" position suited the CSL perfectly, but sometimes I like to slouch in the Z4...

You can adjust the rake of the seats somewhat by using the different mounting points on the side-mounts, so you dont have to be too upright....

OK thanks for the replies folks.

I guess no-one has done it then?

Here are the puka CSL seats:

Andy, you're right the Recaro PP's are the closest match. My theory was that given the E46 underpinnings, the CSL seats could well just fit straight in if the rails etc are the same.

Anyonw else?
