Crunchy, grating noise!!!

Passenger side window went down and lots of crunching grating 'orrible noises and then went back up. Now won't move at all. Except for making whirring crunchy grating noises. Thankfully it is in the up position.
Window regulator?????????
Where's the best place to purchase such an item??

More money to spend... :cry:

If you can get a new regulator for £40 grab it! They should be over £100, at £40 it's surely a refurb kit? That would basically be a cable that requires tricky disassembly of the original unit that wasn't designed to be. Some people have done OK with them, others not. I went for a replacement regulator and had an indi fit it only because previous experience with a similar frame-less set-up ended as a frustrating ill adjusted 'mare. But others have managed OK.
 
Got mine from soopers an fitted myself, an seeing the work you have done on your car I'd say you'll not have a problem, you may want to get a couple if spare clips for the door in case any break, an while in the door get some sound deadening material in there

Was that a full regulator or just the cables???
My motor is obviously still running so probably just a buggered cable/ pulley.
Cheers for the compliment about my mechanical skills btw. :thumbsup:
 
I think the part from sooper was a regulator, so one unit with cables attached, an I think you then just swap the motor

Think I've found the culprit. Think these 2 bits should be attached. Cable end and random bit floating around in bottom of the door.

I used these guys for a cable kit when my drivers side cable snapped a few weeks ago:

Was about £20 posted for the kit and as long as you take your time it's doable in a couple of hours.
Just remember to disconnect the battery, wait 15 minutes and earth yourself before attempting to disconnect the door air bag as a static discharge is enough to set the bag off and you don't want that in your face.
