*Crunch* Front bumper

A quick rant/question.

Yesterday I very cleverly drove straight into a high kerb in a car park at about 5mph, and brought to a rather abrupt halt by my front bumper crunching against the rather unforgiving concrete of said kerb.

Now, I don't think anything is cracked (although it was last night, and dark, so I need to take another look this morning in the light) but there was an alarming scraping noise when I went over a speed bump, so that's a worry.

If I'm looking at a new bumper, I may as well splurge out on an M and pimp my ride a bit..is an M bumper a straight swap on a pre-facelift roadster? What's the most common/easiest method of sorting the fog lights?

Thanks / D'oh!

Loads on her but for a starter....

Something that I'm very aware of because of my construction experience. Very often kerbs are set higher than standard in many car parks and you should be able to spot this by eye. Kerbs should be set only 125mm high on the face, look out for the batter line. Usually I make a point of stopping at least 200mm short when I see the higher kerb. Alternatively it is safer to reverse into the parking spot with the higher rear clearance on the Zed.

Best of luck with the repair.

You may have damaged (or dislodged) the plastic tray the sits behind the front bumper. Bumper is fairly easy to remove following the 'How to's' 10-15 mins.

As Toe-side suggests it would seem likely that you have damaged the undertray, especially if doing 5mph - lot of energy... Alternatives are damage to either or both of the corner pieces between wheel arch and bumper.

Fitting ///M bumper is a near straightforward swap. I did it a few weeks ago. You will need to manufacture an infill between the front of your undertray and rear of the new bumper. About 1m wide and 20cm deep plastic to cut it from

Fog lights are just removed and the cable zip tied out the way. No bulb out shows on mine.

When you buy a ///M bumper remember to also source the air ducts, duct brackets & lower grille. duct brackets are very rare, but could be made or rattle fitted without.

Thanks folks.

Had another look and there's definitely some plastic hanging down from the drivers side behind the bumper, that looks cracked.

Can't get under the car enough to look properly, so having Darren Woods take a look on Tuesday.

If the bottom is scratched you can get a localised repair... Hust the lower splitter - be much better then a full bumper reapray- you could probably do it yourself with rattle cans and some sandpaper even.

I'd check the outside thermometer still works, thats on the passenger side front undertray... And is easily damaged.
