Cruise on the M - fitment costs?

Just been reading the recent post regarding the fitment of Cruise on an M

Anyone had one fitted by a specialist? Any ideas on cost?

I have it on my roadster and I can't see why it's worth fitting? No hill braking function and obviously no radar guided function. Even going down a slight gradient it ends up over speeding so not even very useful for speed limit areas.

Got it on mine.
Used it once in 6 yrs .fell asleep at the wheel.
Btbh the way you drive wots the point :D ,waist of money.

I use mine everyday on the journey to work and have enjoyed having it. Got it retrofitted to my old Zed also. Not sure I would want it if the M was a weekend toy however!

really wish it had this option tbh.... if we could work out how to retrofit id be all over it like a rash.

I bought a cruise control stalk and replacement steering column cowling with the required cut out from BMW, and Phil Crouch fitted it for me for not much money (I've forgotten how much but it iirc it took under two hours).

I use mine quite often, especially useful on a trip to the ring. When I bought my car I was running through the spec of the car (which I had already checked through the vin) and when it came to confirming it had cruise the owner was certain it didn't have it. I had to insist on him taking a photo from the left of the steering wheel before he believed me (owned for 2 years)!

I will be looking into this again this year guys.

I have all the parts and armed with the info will be giving it a go. I'm hoping it doesnt need coding. I can't see why it would when the non ///M's don't, even though the instructions say they do.

I will keep you updated.

I'm going to by the needed parts... it can clearly be done... bmwz4mc can you not trace the wire in your engine bay for us? phil did it... which means it can be done, and it bet it doesnt take 2 hours!!

I believe I know where the wire goes now. It's just the coding, which an Indi has told me is required.

I'm not sure how long it took as it was done with some other work too, but the major difference from non-Ms (certainly the pre-facelift) is that the cruise control needs to be spliced into the loom rather than just plugging it in. I don't remember him saying it needed coding though.
I'd be happy to trace the wire, but I'm in Sydney and my car's at home :P

I had it fitted to mine by my Indi, works beautifully. Cant remember how much it cost but it wasn't much more than £150 if that.

I'm going to fit it at some point too. Used it all the time in my old Zed and the M is just that little bit more tiring to cruise in.

once we find the wire we could use one of those neat wire splice devices and run the wire in the existing loom.... if these indies can do, we defintely can!

Yep, very easy. I've used them before for other things and never had one fail to do its job
