cross country - california to florida

They do have speed cameras. The saving grace on that spot is that there is no power lines to support the cameras. :driving:

IMZ4N, how about we compromise. I can fly to CA we both drive to Fl and you fly back and I am already home. How about that Mstik?

This is a great picture. Did you take it?

Back on topic... If you can do the drive, do it. If you have the time I would not even take the most direct route (I-10). See if you can plan the route with scenery in mind!

Do it. Drive. But go the southern route, to avoid most of the snow.

I drove from SF to Minnesota and back last July. Great trip.

so... i wish i would have checked this a few weeks back!

here's the deal... what i ended up doing is paying a trucking company to basically transport my car from california (san fran/bay area) all the way to ft. lauderdale. i paid about 900 dollars for it, and they should have it out there by a week and half or so. my car's fully covered by their insurance company and my insurance isn't involved whatsoever. they'll also have a tracking device on my car (or the truck) allowing me to check on my car's location at all times. i guess that's pretty nifty.

what i'm probably gonna end up doing is..... doing this trip on the way back to cali. long story short.. i'm moving to florida for 2 years to handle some business, and then move back home to cali once it's all handled. the reason for NOT doing this fantastic trip was because EVERYONE around me was telling me that it was the most difficult AND dangerous drive they've ever done. they all totally advised me against doing it.

for chips & cookies, though.... i was THIS close to :driving: my pretty car across the U.S.

i guess i can always do it with my lady for the way back.

the feedback was great though!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!

and again... i did wanna drive. i just read this post too late. DAMMIT

Sounds like you were surrounded by some easily-frightened people with crap cars.

That'll teach you!

The drummer for Rush wrote a book called Traveling Music (about the music he was influenced by and grew up listening to). Anyways, narration of the story occurred as he drove is BMW Z8 from So. Cal. to Big Bend National Park in Texas. Of course, he had to drive back! That journey is about the same distance, wouldn't you say (Ca. to Texas and back as opposed to Ca. to Fla)? Definitely doable!

I'm adding a picture of the cover 'cause it shows the dash of a Z8...

I'd probably have to have been sedated, and chained down, to stop me from doing that drive. Should be checking the forum more often, eh? ;)

I'm sure you made the decision that best suits you. A lot can happen/change in two years, hopefully another opportunity like this one comes your way so you can enjoy some cross-country driving.
