Crazy Sat Nav

Having just got my Z4 back from BMW for warrenty work
New windscreen, because the rain sensor had packed up.
New headlamp as it was delaminating on the lens
Wheel corrosion again.
Blue Tooth cutting in and out. 'Due to having the phone memory nearly full of text messages'
Now my Sat Nav doesn't know in what direction I'm facing. i'm driving off the roads. Am moving when I'm still. Am two miles away going the wrong direction???????????? I'm at work now and the Sat Nav shows me here, but pointing in the wrong direction. I drove of for a 500 yard drive and it was all over the place.
Address book works, and the maps are marked with the 'White road' when an address is put in. Has anybody had any thing like this?

yes, heard of that before when either the aerial was not plugged in properly or the system needed resetting. Take the battery off for 10 minutes or so, then check again

I had the BM Service Guys in the boot trying to solve an issue of why the roof stopped one inch short when opened up. What arial does the Sat Nav use? Radio arial , TV arial, or own one? I assume the arial plug to the unit is in the back of the unit. Can I gain access to this through the boot. if I don't do it myself I'll lose the car to BMW again, and they had it for a week sorting out the other warrenty issues. better now thatn in six months time.................. Chung ching! :D

aerial is the GPS one which is in the dash. The connector is at the back of the DVD unit. To get to it, you either have to be lucky and be able to reach it from the boot through the hole when you move the carpet up, otherwise there is a lot of dismantling to be done.

I would do the power resest first ...

Thanks pvr.

Power off for ten minutes. If no joy I'll leave it with BMW again. I rang them and explained the symptoms, hoping they would say 'Do this......' but nobody there had heard of this one?

Hmmm, thats interesting. Mine is doing this and I just blamed it on my phone being crap (its a Sony Ericcson and so likes to misbehave). Will have to dump some texts and see if it improves at all. Did this prove to be the problem for you or was it just what you were told by BMW?

Reference Bluetooth:
BMW told me that when the memory on the phone was nearly full, it interfered with the smooth connection with the Bluetooth.
I removed 40 messages, and it all works well now, as it had done in the previous 2 and half years.

My Sat Nav was again all over the place driving home Hertford to Dunstable. Jumping roads and facing the wrong way. Always within about 1/2 a mile of where I actually was. But this morning worked fine ?????????????????????????

theres defo a way to reset it isnt there.. by driving around? im sure if you've done a long journey tho, it would have happened. something to do with the satelites not being in sync with the wheel sensors. again.. it was on z4um..

Thanks for the tip on the Bluetooth.

Change the OS version maybe to try and fix the sat nav issue? what version are you currently running?

Sat Nav now running 100% OK. version is 2005....... I need to do the update.

Does your phone now work without cutting out?

Forgot to try it when I drove the car on Sunday - will test it out later. Still have to remove a few texts from the phone I think!!
