Crappy Cup holders....

Not sure what retard thought that it needed a bottom so I could only hold a 12 OZ cup,......

Kinda tired of holding my 16 Oz between my balls, makes em hot and sweaty even in the winter.

Is their an after market that can clamp/hold onto the console between the seats, right hand side? As no one rides with me except the wife on rare ocassions.
And I have looked on the net, not finding much luck.

Or, could I just pop the bottom out of the one that is in the car and call l it good? Friggin annoying.
This is my only sadness to this E86 Coupe.
 
Wow! First world problems! :P

I think Machine Monkey made one that held a larger water bottle that went down the side near your knee..

I wouldn't take the bottom off as the arms are prone to breaking anyway, so I'm not sure it could take the weight.
 
They seem to fit UK sized cups pretty well :fuelfire:

I've not had an issue with any takeaway coffee cups yet.
 
Had to look up what a 16oz cup was in english...

I got a McDonald's yesterday and confirm that a "16oz" cup does fit the cup holder...

Put the cup in the holder then take it out, tighten the holder another click and then put the cup back in, it will hold it perfectly

This is the usual problem that users drop the cup in and complain it wobbles around and the holder is useless. All that's needed is to click the arm in a 2 or 3 notches depending on cup size before dropping the cup in.

Tested mine accidentally last week and it can take a large Costa on full acceleration down a motorway slip road :)
 
Not the best cupholders around that's for certain & getting in/out with them in use only highlights the designers never ever tried them out in the car :cry:

Totally agree regarding getting in and out, but where else would you have fitted them?

If the choice is these or none then I'm happy with what they came up with.
 
I thought they were pretty good too... Even the location is handy... Far better than the usual centre tunnel.... But just have to push them in when getting in/ out of the car.
 
it is cup holders that get us German Sportscar fans a bad name with Lotus drivers - never used them in the M

I agree would definately have these over none!

Also there is a knack to getting in and out with the cupholders out, I usually have a bottle of water in the car and often leave one in the holder if its not empty when I get out so just got used to manoeuvring around it, its not like you can just hop in given the shape of the car so I don't think it makes that much different.

Incidentally when I was showing the car to my mate (who has a 3 series) he actually said they were the best cupholders he'd ever seen on a car although that was based purely on the aesthetics of the operation with him having never used them whilst driving
 
The operation is brilliant and they are for show as opposed to being practical. It think with the Z being a small car, they didn't legislate for some of our more greedy members of the human race being able to fit in or need a cup that another human could drown in.

Smaller cups for the win.

A cup holder is available as an option for the Elise (carbon & alloy of course) but is almost universally frowned upon as "needless tat"

I used my cup holder when we went to wales, it did what it was meant to do. My wife wants one on her side now, so anyone who doesn't want their passenger side one, I have cash waiting :)

None of your business, but I can assure you that they are regularly-spaced! Couldn't get a 16oz cup between them without some serious damage.

Maybe a coke can... :P
