Cracks in leather seat

Evening all. My passenger seat is absolutely immaculate but the drivers seat is quickly becoming cracked down one side, closest to the door. This probably has alot to do with me using it to push myself out the car! I'm not a small person and the poor seat has to put up with a fair amount of abuse! :o I'd really appreciate thoughts and recommendations for any products that I could use to repair/protect my seats. Is 'leather paint' really any good? I worry it would stand out like a sore thumb. Cheers all :thumbsup:
 
What colour seats? A good clean followed by an equally good leather feed usually makes the leather more supple and pliant so it will crack less (it is cracking because it has dried out).

Autoglym do a leather treatment pack, but so do good equine centres, and leather sof centres. In terms of bringing it back to looking good again, I always think that the repair paint looks exactly like that - painted seats. But maybe I have only seen poor examples. Dependng on your budget though a good vehicle upholsterer will refurbish it for you.
 
Thank you for your replies 1000rr and Paulr. I have white leather seats. I think I'll give the Autoglym pack a whirl as I have always been pretty impressed with their other products. I do use a Zano cleaner atm, and it gets them pristine, but I don't know whether it's the best thing to use.
 
Soapy warm water gets them clean, but dries them out. The leather feed is the important thing here. And plenty of it.

I use their products on my E30 convertible. Anything that can keep 28 year old leather exposed to sun, rain, dog and dirt looking good can cope with a bit of Z4 abuse

Hello Andrew Moore. Have you tried ANY leather car seat treatment products? The reason I ask, is that the side that is closest the door at THE DRIVERS SIDE is almost certainly YOUR side and quite possibly the side that will suffer the most use and abuse irrespective of how tall you are because it's the side used most often! Don't abuse yourself or the seat, simply swap over to the passenger seat and let a smaller/ more petite person drive the car now and again to even the wear out. And please don't worry about sore thumbs as it is no way as painful or uncomfortable as a sore bottom.
 
Hi Boris. I have used Zano leather cleaner, but admittedly not tried anything else. And to be fair, not as often as I should have (which will change!). It is indeed the part of the seat you describe. I think I'd rather roll myself out of the car than let the Mrs loose on my Z! :rofl: :rofl:
