Cracked rear wheel.

Have the car in at Barkers in Haslemere (who seem very helpful so far) getting an MOT and oil service done and had the dreaded call through. Rear offside cracked wheel! Including the run flat its going to cost me near 1k for the total bill. Does anyone know whether a welded wheel can pass MOT as it was suggested I have it repaired for about 50 quid and then just have to pay for a new tyre?

I'd steer well clear of welded wheels!

I had the same problem a while back when I bought my 5er. The car had two cracked wheels. The garage I bought the car from suggested welding, but I checked a couple of the forums (for the 5 series) and it makes it very difficult to balance the wheels & tyres.

Whatever you do though - ditch the run flats!!
