cracked alloy

Hi folks,
I have a 4 year old Z4 which failed its recent MOT due to 2 cracked rear wheels 19 inch double spoke style 326 M alloy. The car is mainly driven by my wife and is low milage. The BMW garage did the rolling test which came out as 1.1mm and 1.6mm . They say this is outwith the limits to enable BMW to contribute to the replacements. I feel the wheels must be defective. Are there any known issues with this wheel ? Is there anything else that can be done ? Thanks in advance.

Sadly it's a fact of life if you have BMW 19" wheels with runflat tyres. I've only had my car a few months and have had to have 3 wheels welded up. I suspect BMW know that this combination is a problem that's why they set the run out test requirements so high, approx 0.2% on the diameter!!!!!!!!!! It's ridiculous to expect that from from a wheel that's not cracked let alone one with an obvious weak spot.

The best thing you can do is get rid of the runflat tyres and then at least you are putting a lot less stress on the wheel rim.

I had the same when my car was just over 3 years old-wheel was within the 0.5mm run-out criteria & bmw still said no!
I had it repaired for £60 & tried not to get annoyed by the situation :(

Thanks for the replies folks they did not even give me the option of a repair just said they needed replacing. Might be worthwhile changing from the runflats
