I recently purchased a 2004 3.0i with 59K on the clock. I love the car, and am glad that I purchased it, but the dealer was supposed to take the car to BMW for scheduled maintenance and did not... It is still under the CPO for a few more months so I took it to my local dealer for the 2nd inspection. $500 PLUS my $50 deductable!! What the heck? What value do you get from having the CPO warranty? Auto dim mirror not working - not covered  , Air Boot leaking near intake - not covered  , Loose trim - not covered  , Fogged headlights - not covered  , controll arm bushings - not covered  , this that and some other darned thing - NOT COVERED :headbang: ! I am out $550 and the car is not better in any way except the flashing -4500 has been turned off. Sure am glad I picked a car with the CPO warranty... :x Does anyone know of any recourse that I have on any of these items?

I'm surprised the auto dim mirror and air boot leak are not covered. Some items may be considered normal wear and tear and won't be covered. Mostly the mechanical stuff is covered. I had, for instance, the nochy steering on hot days problem, and it was covered, got a whole new steering column, a very expensive repair. I was glad I had the warranty for that one.

I took my car to my local independent mechanic for a complete checkup just before my CPO warranty ran out. They didn't find anything that was covered (or anything else for that matter). Cost me 100 bucks.

I would suggest calling BMWNA in New Jersey and explaining your dilemma. They don't like unhappy customers and will go after the dealer if they are wrong about any of it. It can't hurt to try. Sorry for your pain. Good luck.

I did take my car to a great local guy, who is a BMW Certified mechanic and a former employee of the dealer. He told me that the air boot would be a CPO item but the dealer said no. Thanks for the suggestion of calling BMWNA - it can't hurt... :)
