Couple quickies...

1. Dug out the hairdryer the other day and took the Z4 badge off of the boot. It left a slight shadow which can be seen in some lights, but I didn't get flamed in Wales so it can't be too bad. Any suggestions on how to remove it?

2. Claying glass... what lubricant? Do I still use the quick detailer? (I have the Megs kit)

Thanks

When i De-badge my old car, i just took them off then gave it a good wash with wax/shampoo and it looked like there had never been a badge there.

If that doesn't work possibly T-cut? to bring the area around the old badge area to the same brightness?

Joe.

Mine's been on the car (black sticky on silver) for over 6 years, hence the shadow. Did think about t-cut, brought Woots' car up a treat ( :poke: ) That or tar and scratch remover. Wanted to see if there were any less abrasive options.

it is residue or the fact the paint hasn't had any light under the badge, if its residue why not try claying it? if its due to no light youll have to live with it id guess

Autoglym Super Resin Polish (SRP) might be worth a go on the bootlid? As said above, claying it might give some results too.

Thanks guys, it's residue so I'll give claying a try first I think... then polish. I probably just need to put a little more effort in. If it works I may do the side badges too.

You're probably best (if none of the above works) asking on Detailing World. They'll be able to help!

From detailingworld.com I think the golden rule is to start with the least abrasive stuff first to see how it goes, then go for something more intensive if its not working.

I did mine the day before the meet too... sides came off with absolutely no sign of them after, but I'm left with 2 tiny marks on the bootlid, where the dirt had build up (centre of the 4 and right in the top inside point of the Z).

5 coats of SRP and 4 EGP didn't remove them. Going to get some clay and give that a try! If not, Autoglym tar remover stuff I imagine will do the trick.

I think I last used T-Cut when I was 18, but that was probably because I was just nicking and using whatever my dad had sitting around the garage

AG ITR for badge residue.

Megs Last Touch is the QD i use for all clay work including glass http://www.seriousperformance.co.uk/Products,78,toView_750.html
