Coupe windows dirty

Hi guys,

I am constantly finding my side windows pick up dirt everytime I open then close them. I get a gritty scratchy noise from the dirt as I open and close which is marking the glass. I have cleaned the seals many times but the dirt/moisture must be in deep and I cannot shift it. It spoils and otherwise clean car and unfortunately never opening the windows isn't an option.

Is the only option to take apart the door, fully clean behind panels and replace seals (which actually look fine). Seams like a large amount of work. Any ideas of easier ways to sort?

New one on me. :? What type of dirt. Sand from beach/ rain or tree sap I could understand, if you park under a tree. Or perhaps you have some mould or such like, inside the door. Just thinking out loud. :)
 
It will be the horizontal seals that sit on thw top of the doors. They pick up mould and all sorts.

I always get streaks on mine from this.

You can replace them and it doesn't look like too hard a job.

Surprised you not had similar issue. Obviously I haven't been cleaning properly enough :o

I think tree sap is strong contender, also grit as I drive a lot of very dirty country roads and by a quarry every day which is nightmare when it rains and the lorries drag dirt to the roads.

I have been cleaning these heavily for a while now with little success. Have you tried replacing in the past? Did it last long?
 
I'm not sure it isn't some form of lubricant, perhaps from the window mechanism. My passenger side does this even after cleaning the seals. It appears as a vertical whitish stripe about 4cm wide that seems to originate within the door. :?
 
I ALWAYS get white vertical streaks and just can't get rid of them :(
 
Me 4! But at least my driver's side window is better than the (barely used) passenger one.

Take no notice of smartbear - he'll only do that until his roof motor drowns! :lol: (Unless he's had it relocated).

BTW OP that is a lovely Coupe :thumbsup: (I am biased though)!
