The dual exhaust on the M means it can't have the battery in the boot floor (unlike the normal coupe), so it's behind the drivers seat

because the battery is moved fit in the boot as the twin exit exhausts take up the space where it normally sits

The location of the battery accounts for the difference. On the coupe it's under the boot floor but the M has the second rear silencer there so the battery is in the boot.
