Hi,

A friend had an old bike rack, I was hoping that I could use it on my new z4 coupe, to avoid shedding out 100 notes on the saris bones!

In short do you think this is safe... obviously I would need to tie on the straps....

Opinion/experience would be appreciated!

I think if you feel that have to ask the question, then it's probably a no. :(

Have to agree, that foam will cause it to bounce around left to right. The Saris bones are better as you have four separate feet which will give it better stability.

Oh poop!

I was about to ask if this was better, but I might have to bite the bullet and get a bones!?

Theres a chap on here who has roof bars on his coupe. Look a lot better and more sturdy. Also less chance of damaging the Z. More money though, but im sure if you buy the roof bars some one off here will be willing to buy them off you when you sell your car

+1 on the Bones. I've used on a Coupe and it was rock solid. Check this thread….

Who is this?

I have been trying to find a way of getting some as non were made for the coupe, but I have seen pictures of it being done!

I dont think you have it set up right in the pic, the part you have on the rear window should fit under your high brake light, the lower section should fit in the grouve between the bumper and the tail gate and the bike holders should be parallel to the road surfice. they way you have it set the first bump and it will slide down
Good Luck

Yeah, I was trying to make it fit! It seems to put too much pressure on the rear bumper the other way round... think I am going to have to be less Yorkshire and get the saris!
