Cost to upgrade to Z4MC from 3.0Si

Hi,
I`m just having a crazy thought. The 3.0 is great but I have this wacky idea of upgrading to an ///M even though I drive many miles a year. Anyone done the trade? Given the current climate, what do you think it would cost me (cash) to upgrade from a 2006 Z4 3.0 Si Sport with 27,200miles (parking sensors, sport packs, folding mirrors, nice Montenegro paint) to either of these. Bare in mind I like to push a deal even if I lose the deal, what do you think I`d be lucky to get price wise.

2006 Z4 M with 5400 miles, sun protection glass (which I would really like), folding mirrors, green shade on windscreen, piano black leather etc. This car has more extras (dealer price 22,995)

2008 Z4 M with 1040 miles, does NOT have sun protection glass, but it does have BMW sat nav), nappa leather (dealer price £28,850)

I`d be tempted by the 2006 car but would prefer the newer car for the warranty and young age but I also would like sun protection glass.

This is just in idea phase at the moment :) . I know I could call in to discuss with them but I`d like to consider the price to pay first. I`d like to think I could hand over my car + £8000 and get the 2008 car.........probably dreaming.....

2008 - your car plus £13k
2006 - your car plus £8k

I've had a few trade prices on my SLK recently, and it isn't pretty unfortunately.

History repeating itself, Mike? :D

Don't worry to much about the sun protection.. any good tinter can do this for £180.

I would say you could get good money for yours private as it's such a nice colour!

My advice is dig deep and get one, fcuk the credit crunch.. they are such good cars!

Wise decision. No point in funding someone else's joy.
True, going to get a Supersprint and some Brabus springs just to keep my interest in it 8)

any idea of an approx price mine would be worth privately? I work all over the place and sometimes at weekends so it`s a bit hard to organise test drives but I could look at the private sale option.

Just don't let the M badge draw you in. Make sure you get a good test drive in the M before making up your mind. Be objective also. You always drive your own car a certain way and a test drive car harder. Take your 3 for a good run before you test drive the M. :driving:

Glasses Trade In Values

Excellent condition £16200
Average condition £14450
Below Average cond. £12850

Retail £18800

So my guess would be somewhere around £17k. Crazy I know but thats how it works, Ms are so cheap because all quick cars are cheap right now, and everything along the line gets knocked further back. Check out E92 M3s, Astons and 911s right now!

It would be the 08 car for me; mine had 1100 on it when i bought it and believe me, you will be getting a brand new car with a long warranty and crucial Nav ( wouldn't touch one without for resale). Plus you are spending £29k on what was a £45k car. I probably wouldn't bother though... that's a lot of money to lose for a car that is broadly similar.

I won`t - I know the 3.0 is already a fantastic car. Some of the figures mentioned here aren`t great. It would be good to get one of the last Z4 Coupes made and an M spec before the 2009 update but only if I really think it worthwhile, as already said, the 3.0 is a fantastic car already. 17k trade in is quite a laugh considering I got the car for a good deal anyway but that`s still a huge hit although of course the M has been hit harder.

Objectively it's not worth doing, but objectively we'd all be driving a diesel powered Euro box. I'd have a good test drive and if you fall in love with the beast see what deal you can squeeze out of them. There's plenty about so you can always walk away and try someone else.

Somebody contacted me to suggest to trade their 07 3.l Z4 Coupe for my M, but money was an issue. I said their car + 15k...

But also questioned why. The M is a better car IMO but the 3L coupe is very good.

Yours + £15,000! Your optimistic! I was offered my '07 + £7,500 for an '07 M Coupe (with only 350 miles on the clock) by a dealer and I walked away! And that was before the credit crunch silliness kicked in!

If you really do want one, shop around as now is one of the best times to get one to be honest and the M has dropped in price more than the 3.0 at the moment.

Prices may be squashed at the moment, but say in 3 years or so, the M will be more rare and I expect that the price differential will increase again.

Just take a look at how crazy Z3M prices were (prior to the market collapse).

When it recovers these will be in demand again, right now they are a steal

Maybe  was an 07 3L for my brand new 08 M Coupe. Nae chance :) No point in giving the car away :

The car I was interested in is sold, subject to finance agreement - ha ha ha ha ha. Hasn`t everyone already learned a lesson about debt

I`m going to sleep on it for a while and test drive one that may come up for sale close to me. I`m in no rush and may not even make a purchase anyway, the 3.0 really is already good enough really. Another idea I have is to buy a low milage Z4 ///M Coupe in a few years as a toy but keep my 3.0 as everyday transport which is what it is used for now. Although the milage is creeping up on the 3.0, it`s mostly long distance motorway use so I`m sure it`ll do 200,000k miles easily. It`s depreciated about 7-8k since I bought it and I`m going to get my ££££`s worth out of it.
