Cost to fix these problems and query

Hi.. Been looking for a Z4 found one that looks decent.. would appreciated some advice if anyone has any comments as Im not mechanically knowledgable..

Latest MOT shows ;

Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):
Nearside Front Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
Nearside Front Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect weeping oil (5.3.2 (b))
Nearside Rear Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge 225/45x17 rft (5.2.3 (e))
Offside Rear Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge 225/45x17 rft (5.2.3 (e))

From looking online the first problem means drop links repair probably around £200?

Looks like it needs one shock absorbers replacing (or is it best to do both sides same time?) and two new tyres. Any thoughts on cost?

Slightly concerned it says "worn on edge" for both tyres. Does that suggest problems elsewhere?

Finally, this is a 2.0i SE, obviously subjective and coming from a 110bhp Honda Civic so quite nippy by comparison lol, but how fun is this compared to bigger engines..

Thanks for reading :driving:

Those mot issues are nothing to worry about at all, the drop links are very simple to change.... wouldn’t expect to pay more than an hours labour at a garage for those. The tyre wear on the inside edge is common as they tend to run quite a lot of negative camber but in any case this can be dialled out easily with an alignment.

The bigger perhaps is that the 2.0l cars do tend to suffer more reliability problems than the 6cyl models so if your budget is tight I would recommend a rethink.

Thanks for the feedback..! :)

Yes reliability is a big issue for me for health resasons, I'll do some digging in the forum, but can I ask what common faults come up with a 2.0 ??

Also noted one of the headlights was dripping in condensation, which I'm aware is rather common..

The more serious problems are timing chain / tensioner related. Exhaust manifolds / cats crack frequently and there are common but more minor emissions related fault codes that seem hard to resolve. The problem is it results in an EML light which is an MOT failure. Valvetronic motors seem to be more prone to failure on the N46 as well for some reason.
