Cost for supply and fit of track rod ends

I can’t face having a wonky steering wheel anymore but unfortunately the track rod ends have seized so the need to be cut off and new ones fitted.

What do you think I should budget for? £50 for parts, a couple of hours labour and then a wheel alignment?

I had a 4 wheel alignment to M3 CSL spec that included new track rod ends plus a new N/S/R lower outer ball-joint in November 2021 and the total cost was £532.76 inc. VAT. The ball-joint cost £35.40 and alignment was £82.50, both + VAT.

On the pricey side admittedly, but everything is dear in Surrey, and the job was done by an ex-Sytner Indy who primarily bought the alignment equipment to set up his race cars so I knew I'd get a proper job! :D

@Frazzle76 are you sure they can’t be cleaned up with a rotary wire brush, heat and penetrating fluid as required. Worked for me.

Not sure why they're getting all dramatic about cutting them off. For the small extra cost simply replace both the inner and outer control arms, then you know everything is clean and won't seize again. The inner end simply screws into the rack, so pop the outer ball joint off with a splitter, then unwind the whole assembly as one.
May I also suggest that, while it's apart, you ask them to wind the steering fully to the right and apply grease to the gear teeth on the righthand end of the rack.

Thanks. Could you explain more about the last point - what does that prevent?

It is basically preventing the gearing from the column input to the rack from drying out. This can lead to odd noises and sometimes a form of sticky steering. It is a 2 minute job that can be seen as a preventative measure.
