Corrosion on rear coil spring top mount?

Not had a brilliant day started fitting the rear coil springs this afternoon, read various how to guides just to be sure. First spring went in on. Second spring I really struggled with and whilst levering the arm down I cracked the arb link is still one piece but clearly fractured. Unfortunately I have no choice but to drive it for work until I can get it booked in later in the week (after today I can't be bothered with changing them myself).

Anyway I also noticed on the vehicle body mount (where the top of the coil locates) had some pretty bad corrosion where the centre protrudes through the rubber pad. There was a hole in the middle (think it's supposed to be there) and the paint was flaking. As it was getting dark I quickly stuck some hammerite on the area before fitting the spring. Anyone else seen corrosion here? Possible warranty claim? Or will they say the paint was damaged by whoever fitted the spring? I am worried about it on a 2008 car.
