Convince me to upgrade from 3.0i to the M!

So I've got a 2003 3.0i with sport and premium package. I'd like to be convinced to switch up to the M. I bought the zed for 7k with 90k on the clock and have about 1.5-2k into it. My plan is to sell it this summer for about 9k. I need convincing cause I love the zed, I just wish it had more power and was a little more comfier (ride seems kinda crashy- the suspension was tested fine though, and the seats don't hold me or my passenger well at all). I'm looking at 20-25k for a z4m (coupe would be nice but i wouldn't mind the convertible either), which would be the biggest purchase of my life. I have not much to say other than convince me!

To summarize, I think the ///M will give me:
Comfier yet better handling ride (hydraulic power steering is better than electronic right?)
better seats
POWERRR
better at holding value
sexier 8)

What I'm afraid it will take from me:
money...

seriously though, I'm a med student who doesn't have excess cash so I would be taking out a loan to buy an ///M.

You shouldn't need "convincing" from people on here - drive one and see if you "convince" yourself

Why don't you split the difference & get a facelift 3.0si? More power without going ott on the running costs, 265bhp & 100kg lighter than an m car.
Regards

Don't think I can justify getting a 3.0si.. if I'm gonna change, I might as well change to the best so I don't regret not going all the way

Is the ///M's ride quality much more refined than the 3.0i? I know its supposed to be a sport car and all but I don't know if I can handle the rattles and shakes cause new york roads are not friendly

Don't buy one if your worried about the cost. Enjoy your 3.0. and don't believe the hype, they likely will cost about the same in a few years time, if you still fancy one.

No idea of Tax for the USA.
Insurance is going to be a bit more, though probably less than you think.
Economy probably about 5MPG down on the 3.0, which adds up if it's a daily.
Brakes parts are twice the price.
Servicing is a bit more too.

But if you recon you can stretch to it, they're a heap of fun. :driving:

and the ride fine.

I think they take an average weight of the m car owners wallets, the humble si owners weigh far less

Yeah, I've gotta go drive one to decide.. too bad they're so far and in between that there's none near me I can track down right now

///M model do have hydraulic power steering.

This is a massive plus point for me and why i would consider buying one!

The standard Zed's Electric Steering is awful IMO.

I mean it's not too shabby owning any Z as a med student
So my advice would be enjoy your current Z , don't waste money on a car loan , spend more time with your books and on the wards and get the best grades you can to become an excellent doctor.
In any event as many doctors in the US can earn obscene amounts of cash ,you'll be able to buy any exotic car you want in a few years ,even though you'll have little time to drive it .

On the school run this morning....kids pointed and said wow! nuff said!

The fact that you have posted this very subject psychologically you have already convinced yourself.....now find a good one

///M is an investment and you will also need to factor in the consumables, fuel, parts, servicing, insurance will all be more than your 3.0.

Don't want to be a kill joy but it's not something to enter into lightly.
