Hi guys, I'm a newbie!

Was wondered if you experienced Beamer fans could help me... I hate my diamond key, and want a flip one.
After millions of calls this morning and not getting very far with BMW, auto locksmiths etc. I have purchased a flip key case with blank blade from ebay.
What do I do next? Ebay seller makes it sound very easy and says to get blade cut and get the key programmed. Who can do this? And does anyone know if I have to open up the diamond and transfer the chip over.
Has anyone else successfully done this or got a flip key from somewhere else?

Look forward to your response.
Many thanks,
Ax

You'll be able to programme the key to operate the central locking to get you into the car, but you wont be able to programme it to start the engine. To do this, you'll need to find a way of transferring the electronic internals of your existing key into your new flip key.

Andrew.

Isn't there also something about the standard one being recharged when it's in the ignition (and hence the advice to rotate which key you use so that one doesn't go flat).

So a flip one won't recharge in the ignition and you'll have to keep replacing the batteries?
