Converting to Double Din

Hey,
First time posting but long time lurker.
I hate the standard 'Business CD' stereo in the Z4 and I'm looking at replacing it with a double din pioneer. I've seen older tutorials on some of you guys doing it but they were all pretty old - but still relevant.

Will flipping 2 single din fascias work - with some slight modifications?
Or are there any double din kits / 3d printer plans out there that anyone knows about?

It has been done before but its not easy. There are no off the shelf kits at all and if you wanted to do it properly, you would need to consider custom ducting behind the dash for the heating vents.

The neatest ones in appearance have simply blocked off the vents like so:



To retain functionality of the vents, this is the best I have seen and its still far from great in my mind:



Its a LOT of work to get it right. I thought about tackling it but in the end went for a single din unit which is black gloss. works well for me as I have the piano black dash anyway. For sat nav because its bluetooth audio, i use my mobile with google maps and get audio guidance through the system which works pretty well.
