Convertible Top Question

I only use my Z4 for pleasure only on sunny days 2 - 3 days out of the week. My question is...would it harm the top keeping it open while the car is not in use, rather than opening it and closing it every time i use the car? I am worried that keeping the top open for long lengths of time will do damage to the fabric and lines. Want to increase the life of the top motors by using them less. Was thinking maybe once a week or so. Any thoughts?
 
Folks have hard tops on all winter and I've never heard any complaints about the soft tops getting ruined due to it being folded down for so long.
 
Personally i would think its better kept up when not in use, when hoods are down the tend to crease
i dont think once a week will put undue strain on your motors, probably be useful to operate it occasionally
 
No problem leaving it open. Mine has been open pretty much all the time for the past 9 years. No signs of any damage at all. Only time it is closed, is when parked up away from home, for security or if it lashing down. :wink:
