Hi all,

I am selling a Z4 compatible connects 2 adaptor that I have just removed from my Z4 (I prefer to have the CD changer option as I can control it from the head unit). The Connect2 uses the same plug that the CD changer uses so you will lose the changer functionality with this installed. Prior to removing from my car this had been used with an ipod and it worked perfectly. The unit itself does have small installation marks on it, but obviously this doesn't matter when it is tucked away behind the dash!

This is a picture of the actual unit

This is simple to install and is designed to plug straight into the existing Z4 loom via the original connector blocks. The cheapest I have seen these for on the interweb is £60 (not including delivery) and one was advertised on here a couple of weeks ago for £45.

I am looking for £35 including delivery.

Do i have to get the head unit out to connect this...haven't checked the posts but if I do is this easy or am i likely to scratch my nice dash?

yes you will have to remove the radio, but its not a big job and you can be careful

At Taz states you do need to remove the head unit to install this, but it isn't a major job. You need to remove the dash vents, this is done by releasing two metal securing clips circled in this picture

You access these clip with a thin screw driver through a hole on the inside of the vent pictured here

These clips can be a pain in the bottom to access, just take your time and don't use too much force. When the clip has been released use a credit card or something similar to help pull the vent from the dash, this will help to prevent causing any damage to your dash trim.

Once the dash vents are out it is a simple case of unscrewing two head unit screws, pulling the head unit out and plugging the stereo loom connector to the Connect 2.

What a great repines thank you! And then you just feed the cable through to the glovebox to connect your iPod?

As a final stupid question, if i had the iPhone connector kit would that just be for the phone function and not music...now that i come to think of it if i buy this then i would't need that kit would I? Or do you benefit from connecting to the external antenae?

Yep you just feed the cable into the glove box and it is job done (there is plenty of space to feed it through).

I have the iphone bluetooth connector kit in mine, it is for the phone function only and is independant of the stereo. The main function of this is to charge the phone and boost the signal by using the external aerial.

I'm going to have a look at those vents - i have two left hands and a short temper!
Last thing i want is to be forced to look at another DIY disaster...at home I can handle that but not in my new car!!

Hi would this work with the nav and bluetooth already installed, thanks Steve

I have Nav and bluetooth installed on mice and it worked without any issues.

One thing I should have mentioned is this unit plugs into the same port that the CD changer uses so you will lose CD changer functionality with this installed (I have ammended the original post)

Worcester_spoon currently has first dibs on this, just awaiting confirmation from him.
