Sorry tried searching the forum (and google) but can't get my head around it.

I would like to play around with the 2 iPhone apps (connected drive and remote) , my car has has various packages such as:

BMW assist online portal, Internet, navigation system, BMW telesrvices , control BMW teleservices

But doesn't appear to have the 6nr option - is this need to use the iPhone apps ?

You should be able to use BMW remote with just BMW assist online stuff, the BMW connected app however needs mobile app prep

To use BMW remote, you need to register with them for connected drive etc - there's an online form to fill in on the connected drive site somewhere

Only slightly useful iPhone function is remotely locking the doors.

And that it only seemed to work occasionally. In fact the app was surprisingly useless and did not deserve the BMW label. What is even worse is that you have to have an active BMW Assist account so in reality this app is expensive to use! However, if the locate function worked wherever the car was and the lock/unlock feature worked reliably then it would have been a good app but only if it was free to use!!
