Condensation inside headlights.

I have tried everything! I have taken the back door off the housing, took out the rubber seal and replaced it with foam and liquid silicone. This is the 3rd time of me getting condensation out of my headlights. It is so bad that my HIDs keep going out randomly after a few minutes of driving. Please please help, I really don’t want to spend $700+ on headlights for a car (that might have the same issue) that is 12 years old, that’s a car payment on a 18’ BMW.

If that is my only option that I have; then tell me, because I have tried everything my mind can grip around.

A few tips -;

dry it out as best as you can
drop a small-ish bag of silica gel inside
install NEW light covers from BWM, they're like £20 each if that.

that should stop it, silica gel will suck the remaining moisture out.

unless you have actual cracks in glass or seals are gone.

Take the headlight off and mastic around the joint of the lens and casing. You do have to take the front bumper off for this. Somewhere on the forum there is a blog on this.

I had this problem with my last E85, take off the back cover, I then rested and ran a hairdryer (not mine tho lol,, no hair!!) not on to hot a setting, blowing into the back of the exposed light, let it completely dry out, then fit a new cover on the inside of the headlight, as Buckz said they are about £20, and I noticed they have modified the gasket the seals it in the cover, so they must have realised the issue, cured it for me as I got quite a bit of water in there

I had condensation after a bulb change... Ended up taking the headlamp out, taking the unit indoors and suspending it from the curtain rail dangling it above the radiator with rope

Left it there for 24hours to fully dry out then fitted a new cover as others have suggested. It’s been fine since

There really is no need to do this. New covers or just reversing the seals will fix it. Sooner or later you need to remove the rears to fit new bulbs and then it's a pita
Mine never misted in a decade once I sorted the seals out back in 2007 on a 2003

what worked for me...take off the covers and dry out the light with paper towels (you may find a little puddle of water) insert a couple of big silica gel bags ( a few quid on ebay) pop the covers back on and leave them in there a week, you should see any remaining condensation dry out completely, after a week pull out the bags, take the seal out of the back cover and flip it over, give it a coating of grease and refit...couple of quid and a bit of patience and all fixed..still dry now 2 years on
