Compliance Bushes

I had my car in at a BMW Specialists today to have the car lowered, very happy with the modification....

However...

Upon fitting I was told the "Compliance Brake bushes" were worn and need replacing.

I obviously want to fit Powerflex bushes BUT I can't find these "Compliance bushes" anywhere, do they carry another name?

This term came up a while back, appears to be control arm bushes, apparently the play is evident under braking, but has nothing to do with brake parts.

Yep - I had a front compliance bush changed recently, and they are indeed on the control arm. You do need to get them changed ASAP if they are worn - I ended up getting severe steering judder under braking of any kind at motorway speeds... Turns out that the worn bush was allowing flex in the arm and pulling the toe (I think) of both front wheels inwards - this ended up ruining both front sets of discs and pads with the uneven wear it caused. Pricey to fix

If they are rears I guess the same could happen eventually, but it would be less evident to you when driving.

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback.

After much confusion and various names for the part (compliance bushes/ control arm bushes/ Rear wishbone bushes) I finally managed to get them ordered.

I went for the powerflex bushes, cost me £42.00, my local BMW Specialist is fitting them next week for 1 hour labour costs.

Not too bad in all.
