I am looking for an E89 Z4 Roadster as a 2nd car. There are loads about and I have been looking for a while. My ideal would be a 6 cylinder M Sport Manual, good spec, with at least parking sensors. Having said that I am absolutely flexible and it’s the condition of the car, specification and history that really important. My budget is also flexible, within reason.

I’ve come across this one in Melbourne Red which I like, it’s close to me and I anticipate that it will have a BMW history being a late E89. It has all of the right options.... can I ask for comments from the experts please - price ‘ spec etc.....

You know that an expert is just someone who knows more and more about less and less until they know everything about nothing.

Of course, I will rephrase to, “ those that know about these things” :D

It looks like a decent car to me in the right colour. Not that I am biased because mine is the same colour. The only way to know whether it truly suits you is to try it. I am sure others will be along in due course to help with a detailed analysis of spec and price.

Hi its a 4 pot N20 engined car not a 6 pot.. you need to search out 23i 30i 35i and 35is if you want a 6 pot E89

Looking at the MOT history its a bit of a garage queen which may not be bad..

Its got iDrive which most people wish they had after they bought one without it..

No heated seats for most is a big negative..

The 326M wheels are notorious for cracking and getting the garage to replace them hard work..

So its not manual and not a 6 pot with no heated seats... :tumbleweed:

Yeah, I realise it isn’t a 6 pot, but as I said, I am flexible on most things. I hadn’t realise the lack of heated seats, bit of a wierd omission of an otherwise top spec.

I have read about the 326M wheels, and noticed they come up a lot as MOT fails. Can they be safely repaired if found to be cracked?

You can understand no heated seats for maybe a car sold in California but in the UK... it is fairly common, I see a 30i just put for sale here on the Forum has the same issue..

Most people most of the time here on this Forum would suggest you avoid/bin/swap 326M for another wheel..

Some people have no issues at all, some claim that removing runflats solves the problem..most say they will crack and re-crack if welded..

I took my 326’s off as soon as got the car home once I’d picked the car up as a preventative measure. A single replacement 326 wheel is £600+ They don’t appear to stay repaired very long after being welded. I wouldn’t want to be driving around with a repaired one myself. The other thing is the 326’s don’t just appear to crack the seem so “squash” and distort the rim which can’t be repaired easily, if at all.

As for heated seats, in the U.K. I think they’re a must if you intend using the car all weathers. I was out with my young fella in mine yesterday wearing shorts. Outside temp 1.5 degrees inside warm as I wanted

Good luck with your search

Ok, another one, this time a private sale. Decent low mileage and I prefer the beige leather to the black leather with the red paint. No nav, and I can’t quite tell if it has parking sensors. If it checks out and it could be had for closer to £9k, it could be a decent deal. Looks like it has the OEM Bridgestone Runflats and MOT history has no howlers. Can anyone do an HPI check for me?

That one has heated seats and sensors, can see 5 decals on the dash in image 4

You can do a HPI check on line, just type it in and follow the websites, I think a basic check is £4 and a comprehensive one around £10.

Can’t do an HPi check for you but here’s the build spec, showing both heated seats and parking sensors
