Colour choice

Hello to all, Im new here so please go easy on me.
I am about ready to go for a new Z4 but can not decide on the colour.
I've seen the new Z4 in Black and I think it looks beautiful but don't want to buy a new car if its going to show up swirls.
I am totally new to BMW's so don't know what the paint quality is like.
My current car is a black Honda S2000 and despite careful washing the swirls in the paint work are terrible. The paint is so soft it's untrue.
Can anyone with a black BMW give me the thoughts.
Thank you very much in advance of any replies.

black paint is always softer i had a black tt easiest way to avoid swirls use a good wax in linear motion or a porter cable Z,s look great in any colour make the leap i have and cant stop grinning when im :driving: !

I have a Sapphire black Z4 and it is a bitch to keep clean! They look amazing when just cleaned though and my paint still looks great. It's only 1.5 years old though so i'm not sure how the paint goes on with age.

I think the new Z4 looks best in white though.

Its the clear cote you are putting swirls in, not the black paint - you can see it more in black paint I'll give you that, the clearcoat will be just as soft / hard as other colours painted with the same clear coat.

Get over to www.detailingworld.co.uk - the swirls are coming from your washing / drying technique and your covering them up with waxes / fillers !! A good wash technique is all that is required to prevent swirls

Indeed, two bucket method, whool mitt and gritt guard are the keys to it. My Z does not have a single scratch / swirl mark, even using a tube light.

I will go for Blue Sea Blue, Space Grey or Titanium Silver. Alpine White does not show swirl marks, but dirt instead.

My Black Sapphire has no swirls :D

i think the black and alpine white are the 2 best colours on the new z4, i really like the white, but then nothing shines/reflects like a good clean black ! as mentioned the swirls are normally on the clear coat and can be hidden a bit by waxes or polishes or corrected by using compounds and a polisher machine, plenty of pro's who can do this type of thing if you dont want to do it yourself.

if i had the choice id go alpine white with the red leather

Well, there you have it......hopeless isn't it.

The Z4 looks good in ANY colour..........

I believe it's the first BMW to be completely designed by Women............
Well done ladies.....

Me?

I chose the DSBlue, then the Space Grey, then the DSBlue, then the Space Grey, then the DSBlue.
Changed the order many times.....then considered the Black, no, the Blue.....really it IS that difficult

Ended up with the Blue, then regretted it for a few weeks, now I THINK I'm happy.........

Haha, yeah, and then there's the upgrade thing - do you go for the same colour, or make a change?!?!?

Thanks to you all for your helpful advice. These forum's are a font of knowledge.
After much thought, Im going to be ordering an alpine white with red leather :D

A great choice. If you look at the BMW AUC website there are white cars dotted around the country if you want to see one in the "flesh"
