Hi anyone not had the zed long, was driving with the top down last weekend when I heard a sound like metel bouncing down the rd behind me. Could it have been a broken coil spring if so do I need to take the wheels off to find out.

Yes indeed most likely to be a broken rear coil, unless you just drove over something.

Take the wheel off and look for the top or bottom end 1 or 2" missing. Can be hard to spot.

Safe to drive, easy DIY replacement, but an MOT fail.
 
Good excuse to change OEM springs for some Eibachs, if you're that way inclined ;)
