Clutch pedal suddenly soft

Hi all
I have an '06 3.0 Si Coupé manual. I was driving around town today and while downshifting my clutch pedal suddenly went soft. The clutch engages and disengages normally and there's no abnormal noises. I have checked the brake fluid level and that also seems fine. Any advice on what the issue could be and if it is cause for major concern? It is my only car so I am gonna be s**t out of luck if I have to send it in for a repair that takes more than a day or two

Sounds like a leaking clutch hose or master cylinder. Are you seeing any fluids below the car?

I haven't spotted any fluid under, I'm just hoping it's not something major like a dampening valve or either the master/slave

When you say dampening valve, are we talking about the clutch delay valve?
All the clutch hydraulic components on the zed are quite easily accessible. Don't fret too much, if it requires a replacement master or slave, it won't keep the car off the road for long.

When was the system last bled? It might be worth pulling some fresh fluid through it and seeing if things improve.

Since you think your fluid level is ok and not dropped its level in the reservoir it would suggest to me that a seal in either the slave may be failing to produce a soft pedal as you describe. As suggested try bleeding the slave in the first instance and the condition of the feed pipe, if that has perished it might show up as ballooning when under pressure and be the cause of a soft pedal.

Some very good answers above, I would also suspect the master or slave cylinder. I would probably just change the slave one as a starter for ten as its cheap and easy to do. If that doesn’t fix it go for the master. Even that is fairly simple. Obviously worth a quick bleed through first and check all the unions.

All bases covered above I think, air is getting in somewhere. Unlikely to be any thing else and all are relatively easy jobs. Hope you get it sorted soon. :)
