Clutch AND flywheel or not?

Evening

How many people have changed their flywheel at the same time as changing their clutch? It adds a significant amount to the cost of the work and its not clear to me if its a necessary job if the clutch gets changed or just something that has become standard practice.

What is the guidance from those in the know?

Many thanks

If the flywheel rattles badly at times then think about replacing it. Or, when it's in bits, see if there's too much free play or has broken springs. Otherwise, it's probably fine.

My 320d is on the original clutch and flywheel at 276k. It makes noises occasionally but it has done for the last 80k miles.
