Clutch and brake replacements

Hi there, it's been a little while since I have been on the forum, as my car has been working like a dream. But I fear I may need a new clutch and possibly brake discs and pads.

At the weekend when pulling away from some lights I accidentally had the car in 3rd and not 1st as I thought and whilst pulling away I fear it may have burnt the clutch out!! It had the distinct smell of burning clutch and now when pulling away in 1st it can judder a little when the biting point is engaged. I am looking to get the clutch replaced and wondered what my options are. After a little digging around on here it seems that the Luk or Sachs kits are favourites.

Is this type of kit suitable for the e86 2007 3.0si? http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/clutch-kit/sachs-3000-951-906_g479_a0323000!951!906.html

The other thing which I need to possibly look at are the brakes. They had no advisories when it was MOT'd last month, but they said to keep an eye on them as they have a bit of scaling on the rear. When braking I get a noticeable rubbing noise from the brakes and I would like to change the components out for new. This seems to be a mine field when trying to work out what is suitable in terms of brand, size etc.

If anyone has any pointers on what type of kits, brands or where they have experience of buying from that would be very helpful for me. I would ideally like to not spend a fortune on these, but buy a good reputable set which will be as good, if not better than the originals.

Thanks in advance for any advice / suggestions.

Clutch.........can't help, but will need to do this myself soon. Someone on here was getting theirs done recently, at the place in Tamworth, Tech Auto or something similar. Hopefully if he sees this thread he will update.......please :)

Brakes - Replaced my front discs and pads myself about 18 months ago, with Pagid (discs and pads) from Euro Car Parts. The fronts were around £80-90 all in and were pretty easy to fit, with the only problem being the loosening of the 16mm bolts on the caliper mount. I didn't have a breaker bar! If you do this yourself make sure you have a good fitting 16mm socket or ring spanner.

As for brake performance, no issues whatsoever with the new discs and pads.

Rears to be done later this month :x

Yeah its me :D
The car is at Autotech Performance Telford at the moment. Until it came out Pete (the owner) didnt know whether it needed a DM flywhhel....but it does. The fitting of the clutch itself was £485 (parts and labour) but the DMF is going to add another £500 or so i believe.

Appreciate the update

In my mind I expected around £800 - £1000 for the clutch/DMF change, still painful on the pocket though :(

I have no experience, good or bad, of Autotech. If you don't mind, will you update once the job is done and you have the car back.

Cheers
