Clock reset in cold weather ?

Just a question to see if anyone else has this. A couple of times now, when the temperature drops below freezing ( overnight ) my Clock and Trip Computer reset. Obviously the cold weather is affecting the battery, but the fact the car starts with no problems, makes it a little strange to me.

Has anyone else experienced this ? Its mildly annoying rather than critical, just interested to know what you guys think / have experienced ?

Maybve the battery is on its way out.... drops below freezing which kills the battery and then the outside temp warms up a little before you start it giving you enough power for ignition (like the old trick of warming up batteries in your hand giving them a bit more power) - although that sounds pretty unlikely!

Might be worth getting the battery charge checked.

This exactly what my car started doing for about a month/six weeks before battery finally gave up the ghost so I think you need to get battery checked

Thanks for the reply's guys, much appreciated. I guess its 3.5-4 years old now, which is about right for a battery, seems weird it has 100 amps ( est ) to start the engine, but doesn't have a few mA's to keep the clock ticking over. At least i know what to look out for now :)

another idea ....... took me months to discover when I had a range rover.

Check the earth connection on the battery - on the rangie, the cable was corroded green inside the battery clamp itself, everything looked ok from the outside but it would constantly reset the computer in bad weather.

Just leave it a few months and you won't have to change it back :poke:
