BMW meet on 6/12 on top of the Mt Washington NH Auto Road. There was a Z4 and a couple of Caymans but mostly 3ers. Great time and great folks and some interesting cruising...

I was there a few years back and as I recall it's just over 6,000 feet or 1830 meters.

why does it get colder as you get higher, its nearer to the sun :?

why does it get colder as you get higher

at altitude atmospheric pressure is lower (less gravity) - this causes the air to expand, as it expands, it cools.

Although you are nearer the sun, the difference is negligible compared to the distance between the earth and the sun and so the increased effect of solar heating does not compensate for the drop in atmospheric pressure

your zed will also be less powerful at altitude

I did Pikes Peak in a 73VW with 60 HP14,000 ft and you notice it. This was no issue inn the 328.
