I only found one other account on this which didn't reach a conclusion, so here goes:
Even though my climate control is set to "Auto" mode, it has now randomly started changing itself to manual.
I get in the car Auto is on (AC off) all is well. 5 minutes later the fans come on and I look down and its now in full manual mode (green lights come on for the control knob position indication and of course the Auto light goes out). I press Auto and I get another 5 minutes of Auto mode until it randomly spazzes out again. Repeated this process about 10 times this morning - its infuriating!
Car is 2008 just out of approved-used warranty with BMW and has recently had a new battery.
I also have issues with my windows not working in Auto mode every time...
