Clear Headlight project now with pix!

I've got to ask, as I can't seem to find an answer to the exact diferences re-Pre & Post-facelift headlights, but do you think this kind of approach would allow Post facelift lights to fit Pre facelift cars, as from what I can see all the electrics are being transfered so there should be no compatibilty issues on that front or is there something even more fundamental in the design of the lights.

Nothing is impossible so I'm sure something could be made to work as the basic shell is identical with the only changes really being to the loom, inner light structure, silver/black decor. Wiring wise it should be easy.

I've not stripped a facelift for some time, so going from memory and then only as a scrap for the clear lens:
1) You need to work out what to do with the main beam as the facelift has a blank plate with mock AE. Once removed it may leave a tackly gap
2) Flash to pass would not be connected unless built into the rear housing - that would likely need drilling out and reconstructing

The devils in the detail on such projects as all your work is ultra visible through the poly outer cover.

Shouldn't be a problem on that one as I only have Halogen's, never had any prob's with the light quality from them before the Zed.

I think you're missing my point . The prefacelift uses the inner halogen as a flash to pass and main beam while the facelift iirc is just a blank plate, so that light needs some engineerign to get it fully functional

Guess I did, I thought you refering to Xenon's and not Halogen's, I figured both Pre & Post Facelift would still use 2 Halogen Lamp's 1 for Main\Dip the other as Highbeam, oh well back to the drawing board.
