Cleaning Exhaust Tips?

Since getting my new Z the state of the exhaust tips has been bugging me, sad I know but there you go. It was so easy to sort the ones on the 3.0si I could just pull them of and go to work in the garage sorting them out.

How do you other forumites clean there e89 tips?

I use "000" STAINLESS wire wool to remove tar and dirt, followed by a quick polish with cutting compound on a 3" pad in a cordless drill, topped off with a coat of wax/sealer.

Is this on an e85? The problem with the e89 is you can't remove the tips so getting in with anything mechanical is not so easy without risking damage to paintwork.

Are you sure they don't pull off?

They pull off the 23i.
I was thinking of getting them plated as they never really look great even when clean.

I'll have to have another look but I'm sure I could see weld when I first looked.

Got a brand new set for sale if your interested

I remember seeing your for sale ad but really the ones on it are fine but could just be a better finish.

I fitted some 23i tips, they push on, but I would think after any length of time you will struggle to get them off.
They might be dull chrome coated so don't rub too hard, I have seen some copper plating coming through.
I just rub them with oily rag after washing off the tar stains with petrol.
