Clean up Alloy Corrosion on engine parts?

I've got a Z4MR and the engine bay is generally very good but at the front the alloy bits could do with a damn cleaning.
I guess where they have oxidised. The oil filter housing etc.

Has anyone had much success with this? I didn't want to use the wrong product which may cause a bad reaction.

Pain in the arse to get to though :x

autosol and a toothbrush!

...... and then seal with a cloth impregnated with WD40 or similar just to give a protective coating.
