Cinque Terre recommendations?

Its the GF's 40th next April and I want to take her for a week to the Cinque Terre area of Italy. Ideally an apartment for us and Mini-Inkey$ to chill out in and ideally in the place thats got all the multi coloured houses on rocks!

Anybody been and recommend a good place to stay thats got the wow factor? Which airport is best to fly into too - Pisa, Florence, Bologna?

Having had a couple of kids, I can offer some free advice - as long as you accept that free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it....

If you really want to treat her to something special, arrange for the grandparents to look after mini-Inkey$ for the week so the two of you can have a week together - treat her like you did when you first met instead of like a 'mum'

It's a beautiful area, we stayed in Riomaggiore recently.
Rick Steve's snapshot guide is useful although it is aimed at the American market. You can pick one up for about £5 on the internet.
The guide does say to stay away from the Cinque Terre on Liberation day which was 25th April this year, not sure if it's the same date next year.

Much as thats a lovely ideal Perry, its all good on the three of us going and wouldn't have it any other way (this year at least; ask again in 2 or 3 years time!)

Oddballs - will check it out

As long as you're reasonably savvy you can stay in places that would otherwise never pop up.
