cigarette lighter not working

Checked the fuse box and fuse 5 ( and 8 ) are fine, but got no power at the lighter... anyone got any ideas before i have to start something drastic....

Just remove the ashtray and swithch unit (single screw in the base of the ashtray) and check the power to the lighter socket - 10 min job at the most. If this is OK then the lighter unit itself must be defective.
